The Imperial Shrine Parade was terrific! After receiving
instructions as to where we needed to line up, we made our way over to the
staging area. There must have been 1000 clowns waiting there to step off and
lead the parade which they did at 7:30 pm sharp!! Nila, with Noble Harold
Polley at the wheel, fell in behind the multitude of clowns. My plan was to
watch Nila and Noble Harold as they idled by but I couldn’t take my eyes off
them and walked along the 1 mile route, taking pictures as I went. What so
surprised and pleased me was the crowd’s reaction to Nila; cheering, clapping,
spectators yelling and chanting her name, Nila, Nila!! The camera lenses were
snapping everywhere and the comments were all so positive. Folks, I know in my
heart that many more people are better aware of the Daughters of the Nile, the
Foundation and the philanthropy which we serve than before this historic moment
of Nila being in the Imperial Shrine Parade! This was history in the making, in
a word – “Priceless”.
We left Indianapolis yesterday morning, heading east, final
destination Eddington, Maine. After traveling 500 miles we called it a day just
south of Buffalo, NY in Hamburg.
We at Ahlem #84 wish every success to our new Supreme Queen on her journey. Welcome to New England, we are excited about your visits to Massachusetts Temples and Hospitals in Boston and Springfield.
